Purposes and Aims of the WTA:

Purpose:

The W.T.A. is a non-profit organization of professional and amateur palaeontologists interested in trilobites of western North America. We strive to enhance knowledge about trilobites in the west and to promote responsible collection of fossils.

The W.T.A. also attempts to foster interactions between all amateur and professional palaeontologists concerned with trilobites throughout the west. We believe that amateur collecting stimulates interest in the science of palaeontology and can make important contributions to academia, especially in the discovery of rare and unknown species, new sites, etc. Our purpose is to encourage communications between amateur (private) collectors and universities, museums, and professional palaeontologists.

Aims:

To promote the science of palaeontology and assist in trilobitological research.

To increase and promote public awareness of our fossil heritage.

To encourage and promote the safe and responsible collection of fossils.

To make contributions to palaeontology through the discovery and collection of trilobites

To provide information on trilobites to collectors and academics
